The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains in Kerala, Lakshadweep, and other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and parts of Karnataka over the next 24 hours as the Southwest monsoon moves in.
“During the next 24 hours, the southwest monsoon is likely to advance into the remaining parts of the south Arabian Sea, some parts of the central Arabian Sea, some parts of Kerala and Lakshadweep, some more parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, some parts of coastal & south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and some parts of the south and central Bay of Bengal,” the IMD said in its latest bulletin on Friday.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe are also expected to receive heavy rainfall.
“Strong winds of 40-50 kmph with gusts up to 60 kmph are expected over the southwest and west-central Arabian Seas, as well as 40-50 kmph winds over the Lakshadweep area, the southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala’s coast. Fishermen are cautioned not to enter these areas “It stated.
The weather in these areas is expected to stay the same on June 6, 7, and 8.
