WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform, is said to be working on a new feature called WhatsApp Flash Call, which can be used to instantly log in to a new mobile phone with the existing notification method. WhatsApp SMS-based authentication is already in place, and it will soon be joined by a new login mechanism.
Currently, WhatsApp users can verify their numbers by simply entering a six-digit code, which is automatically entered into the app via Google Play Services on Android. Meanwhile, the new WhatsApp Flash Call login method has arrived to help users with the process.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s Flash Call feature was first discovered on WhatsApp beta version 184.108.40.206. Instead of sending an SMS with a code, WhatsApp will call the user and then automatically end the call once the user is detected.
WABetaInfo went on to say that the number used to make the call is always different, making it difficult to fool the system.
According to reports, the WhatsApp Flash Call feature will aid in logging into multiple devices following the addition of multi-device support, but the question is whether it will make the process easier or more difficult, and there may be privacy concerns as well because WhatsApp will request access to call logs.
Another disadvantage is that the WhatsApp Flash Call feature will not function on iOS due to Apple’s security and privacy features.
