Debuting on the small screen this autumn.
As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, the film – which will be released under the DC Animated Movie banner – will take inspiration from Netherrealm’s video game titles as well as writer Tom Taylor’s Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One, which is a comic book prequel to the video game series.
According to reports, the animated action will take place on an alternate version of Earth in which the Joker has successfully tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane, resulting in the superhero going on a rampage of destruction. According to the Hollywood Reporter, “this deranged Superman decides to take control of Earth for the good of the planet,” prompting Batman and his allies to attempt to stop him from doing so.
And if you’re wondering exactly which DC heroes and villains will make the cut, the released cast list gives us a pretty good idea, confirming appearances for Superman (played by Justin Hartley), Batman (Anson Mount), Joker (Kevin Pollak, also starring as Jonathan Kent), Wonder Woman (Janet Varney), Green Lantern (Brian T. Delaney), Nightwing and Aquaman (Derek Phillips), Catwoman (Anika Noni Rose), Green Arrow (Reid Scott, who also plays Victor Zsasz), Ra’s al Ghul (Faran Tahir), Cyborg (Brandon Michael Hall), Harley Quinn (Gillian Jacobs), Mr. Terrific and Killer Croc (Edwin Hodge), Plastic Man (Oliver Hudson), Flash, Shazam, Mirror Master (Yuri Lowenthal), and Captain Atom (Fred Tatasciore).
Aside from that, Laura Bailey portrays Lois Lane and Rama Kushna, Zach Callison portrays Damian and Jimmy Olsen, and Andrew Morgado portrays the Mirror Master Soldier in the film.
Justice League Dark’s Matt Peters will be directing the film, which is based on a script written by Ernie Altbacker, who also wrote the animated adaptation of Batman: Hush. Injustice is expected to be released as a home entertainment release sometime this autumn, despite the fact that the film’s title is unclear.
