On Wednesday, a solemn ceremony was held in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, as part of the Kargil Vijay Diwas 2021 celebrations, to sound the bugle of 22 years of Kargil War victory celebrations.
The ‘Shaurya Band’ of Jammu and Kashmir joined the Northern Command at Udhampur to present a musical evening brimming with patriotism and nationalist fervour in honour of the Kargil War heroes, according to an Army statement.
On hand for the musical evening were Lt Gen YK Joshi, the General Officer Commanding in Chief, Northern Command, Army veterans and their families, as well as other senior officers from Headquarters Northern Command and their families.
Protocols established by COVID were strictly adhered to throughout the entire event.
“The event was dedicated to the memories of action during the Kargil War, and the name of the band itself is an ode to the gallant warriors who stood against all odds to safeguard our frontiers, even at the risk of their lives,” according to a statement released by the organisation.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Army Commander Lieutenant General YK Joshi, UYSM, AVSM, VrC, SM, ADC, interacted with the band members and emphasised the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas to the soldiers in attendance.
It was also marked by the release of a video featuring Girik Aman, a well-known Punjabi singer, singing the Kargil song in tribute to the soldiers. In commemoration of the victory during “Operation Vijay,” this song was released, and it embodies the strength and dedication of every soldier in the armed forces to the cause of national security.
