On the 20th anniversary of the horrific 9/11 attacks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday (September 11, 2021) that it was an attack on humanity, and that such tragedies can only be avoided by instilling human values.
“Today is September 11th, also known as 9/11. A date in human history that is known to have struck humanity, “He stated.
Mentioning that a century ago, on September 11, 1893, Swami Vivekananda took the global stage of the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago and introduced the world to India’s human values, Prime Minister Modi said, “Swami Vivekananda stood on that global stage on this day and introduced the world to Indian human values. Today, the world is realising that only through these human values will tragedies like 9/11 have a permanent solution.”
On this day 20 years ago, a total of 2,977 people were killed in a terrorist attack. The United States was subjected to the deadliest terrorist attack in its history on September 11, 2001.
The terrorist attacks killed over 3,000 people. The twin towers of New York’s World Trade Center collapsed in 102 minutes after planes hijacked by Al Qaeda operatives crashed into them.
