Tollywood actor Sai Dharam Tej was injured after falling from a sports bike he was riding in Hyderabad, and a case of rash driving has been filed against him.
A case has been filed against the actor at the Raidurgam police station of the Cyberabad police commissionerate under IPC Sections 366 (endangering the life or personal safety of others), 279 (rash driving), and 184 (driving dangerously).
According to police, Sai Tej was killed when the motorcycle he was riding skidded at around 8:05 p.m. on Friday. He was on his way to IKEA from the Cable Bridge in Madhapur, the city’s information technology hub.
The police have taken possession of the sports bike, a Triumph RS. The actor, who is said to enjoy riding motorcycles, recently purchased the 660cc sports bike.
Sai Tej, the nephew of megastar Chiranjeevi, was injured in the accident and was rushed to the Medicover Hospital, from which he was later transferred to the Apollo Hospital.
According to a police officer, the bike apparently skidded due to sand on the road. According to him, the actor was wearing a helmet and was not under the influence of alcohol.
According to a medical bulletin issued by Apollo Hospital on Saturday morning, Sai Tej is stable and all of his major organs are functioning normally.
“He will remain on assisted respiration in the ICU for controlled close monitoring, and additional investigations will be conducted during the day,” according to the bulletin.
Meanwhile, actor Naresh stated that Sai Tej left his house on a bike on Friday evening.
“I heard the bike and wanted to talk to him, but he had already left,” said Naresh, whose son Naveen is close to Sai Tej.
Naresh stated that he considered counselling Sai Tej a few days ago after learning about his passion for biking.
“I wanted to counsel him because this is a critical time for his career and it’s not appropriate to take risks,” the actor explained.
Naresh went on to say that he, too, enjoyed biking but had to give it up after an accident on the advice of his mother.
Naresh pointed out that the sons of actors Kota Srinivas Rao and Babu Mohan died in similar accidents when they were in their twenties.
Meanwhile, Sai Tej’s family members, Tollywood celebrities, and politicians visited the Apollo Hospital and discussed his condition with doctors. They wished him well and wished him a speedy recovery.
T. Srinivas Yadav, Telangana’s Minister for Cinematography, told reporters after a visit to the hospital that the actor is doing well and that there is no need for concern.
Chiranjeevi and his wife Surekha also paid a visit to the hospital, as did actor Ram Charan, who inquired about Sai Tej’s condition.
The hospital was also visited by actors Srikanth, Prakash Raj, Manchu Vishnu, and others.
