Britney Spears has announced her engagement to her long-term boyfriend, Sam Asghari.
On Instagram, the singer shared a video of the couple showing off the ring.
Spears is fighting for the end of her 13-year conservatorship, which governs both her personal life and her finances.
She revealed that the terms of the agreement barred her from marrying Mr Asghari or having any more children.
When there were concerns about the singer’s mental health, the conservatorship arrangement was imposed in 2008.
Asghari, a 27-year-old personal trainer and actor, shared a separate photo of the ring and the couple kissing.
In 2016, the couple met on the set of a music video.
Brandon Cohen, Asghari’s manager, confirmed the engagement to People magazine.
“The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply moved by the outpouring of support, dedication, and love,” he said.
Spears, 39, has previously been married twice. She married her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in 2004, but the marriage was soon annulled.
She married dancer Kevin Federline later that year, and they have two children. In 2007, the couple divorced.
Last week, the singer’s father Jamie Spears filed papers in a Los Angeles court to end the conservatorship. She had sought to remove him from the role twice in the last two years.
Britney Spears has previously described her father’s behaviour toward her as “cruelty.” She told a judge in July that she wanted to file charges against her father for “conservator abuse.”
Jamie Spears was granted conservatorship over his daughter’s estate and other aspects of her life by a court order. Mr. Spears resigned as conservator of his daughter’s personal affairs in 2019 due to health issues, but he continued to oversee her business arrangements.
