19-year-old arrested over death of Amber Gibson


A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a teenage girl in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire.

Amber Gibson, also known as Niven, was reported missing from her Hillhouse neighbourhood home on Friday.

On Sunday morning, the 16-year-body old’s was discovered at Cadzow Glen.

Connor Gibson, who is thought to be her brother, has been charged in connection with her death. On Friday, he is scheduled to appear in Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Det Supt Raymond Brown of Police Scotland’s major investigation team said the teenager’s death had left his family “absolutely devastated.”

The Cadzow Glen park is still closed, and there is a large police presence in the area.

Flowers have been placed at the park’s entrance. “To Amber, rest in peace,” one tribute said. We will always remember you.”

The adolescent attended Moore House Academy in Bathgate, West Lothian.

“Our children and staff are devastated by the news of this tragedy, and we are all supporting each other through this difficult time,” a school spokesperson said.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to Amber’s family and everyone who knew her.”

Anyone with information about her death or who believes they saw her between Friday and Sunday is asked to contact police.
